______________
dwindling scent
the traces of a dream escaping me
i struggle to consider all of the possibilities and make sense of everything
vague snippets on the tip of my tongue
i can see pictures, feel sensations
a pile of puzzle pieces that i am simply too foolish to fit together
barely making out your bright eyes and lips in the vague fragments i managed to connect
my lips still wet with your kiss
the dwindling scent of your hair
the tragedy of waking up to the desolate wasteland this place has become
like a drug crash, only so much worse
my soul; bleeding for the missing piece
it tears the rest of me apart

_________
dead skin
quiet
unrelenting silence slowly driving me mad.
you were here and now you are not.
frosted brown strands lining both sides of your pillow.
the bed we shared has been untouched since your departure.
sometimes i find pieces of dead skin on the clothes you left behind.
bury my face in them,
poor attempts to lose myself within your dwindling scent.
if only you would return
if only i could taste your blood again

_____
numb
a childproof safety cap away from salvation
the mask you wore burned into the back of my eyes
love
hate
resent
desire
sometimes i pretend i am a robot, and feel nothing at all
-

_______________
cave drawings
the cold hand of your ghost caressing my cheek
i try my best not to take it for granted in these reiterated moments
losing your scent
cascading towards oblivion
all pictures fade over time

_____________________________
contents of the plastic sanctuary
washing away my sins with concentrated purity
my two best friends dance so well together
a breathtaking symphony of forgiveness
they perform beautifully and show me what i want to see
applause
pleas for an encore escape my gnarled tongue, slipping through the cracks of my jagged teeth
we will continue to dance all night

soured wonderland
sweet release as the remains of another memory elude me
an emptiness i can't shake to follow
pathetic
what was once considered pleasure, now only temporary distraction
roll over onto my side and close my eyes
i caress your ghost and pray for our cherished moments to take place
a slumber i hope to never wake from

___________________
vermillion masquerade
the taste of ash on my cracked lips
like licking a dying flame with dry tongue
kissing you was always so passionate
we bleed for eachother
scorched mouth disconnects from the surface of your smoldering mask
once we were one, and now we are seperate
you never felt a thing, did you?
anger
fingers hooking the edge of your once bright mask
burnt flesh tearing away with the perfect disguise, revealing to me the lifeless corpse of something that could have been
beautiful
a final farewell to the remains of a counterfeit angel
regret
i will consume you, just as i hope the flames consume us all
